Child Offshore Visa (Subclass 101)
The Child Visa (Subclass 101) is a permanent visa that allows a child outside
Australia to live in the country with their parent(s). This visa is designed for children
who are biological, adopted, or stepchildren of an Australian citizen, a permanent
resident, or an eligible New Zealand citizen. Once granted, the Child Visa Subclass
101 provides the child with permanent residency, allowing them to live, study, and
work in Australia indefinitely. It also gives access to healthcare under Medicare and
the ability to apply for Australian citizenship later. While child visas enjoy one of
the highest levels of priority with USCIS in processing family-based immigrant
visas, sometimes misunderstandings, mistakes, or omissions can lead to
unnecessary delays or even a rejected application. To avoid this, it’s essential to
carefully follow all application requirements, ensure all supporting documents are
provided, and seek professional advice if needed.
