Family Sponsored Visa

Family Sponsored Visa

The Australian immigration department has introduced a family visa program aimed at reuniting loved ones by allowing partners, parents, children, and other family members to migrate to Australia, subject to specific requirements. This visa is made possible through sponsorship by Australian citizens, permanent residents, and eligible New Zealand citizens.

Partner Category Visa

The Partner visa category in Australia allows a spouse, fiancé(e), or willing partner (including same-sex partners) to migrate to Australia for permanent settlement. Upon initial arrival, visa holders are granted temporary residency, which can be converted to permanent residency after a two-year period.

To be eligible for this visa, applicants must have a partner who is:

Parent Visa

The Parent Visa category in Australia allows eligible parents to migrate to the country if their child is an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen. The child must sponsor their parent’s application, which is a mandatory requirement.

There are two types of Parent Visas: Working and Aged. Applicants who move to Australia under this visa can work in the country. Some Parent Visas are initially granted for temporary residency, which can be converted to permanent residency if the applicant meets certain requirements.

The ‘Contributory Parent Visa’ option is available, which offers faster processing times, but at a higher cost. However, it’s essential to note that the Australian immigration authorities have a limited number of Parent Visas available each year, which means that applicants may face a wait due to a queue of applications.

Child Visa

The Child Visa category in Australia is similar to the Parent Visa, with multiple sub-classes available. To be eligible, a child’s visa must be sponsored by a parent who is a permanent resident of Australia, an Australian citizen, or an eligible New Zealand citizen.

For children already in Australia, the sponsorship allows them to immigrate as a permanent resident, dependent child, or orphaned relative. On the other hand, for offshore applicants, the sponsorship options include dependent child visas, adoption visas, or orphaned relative visas.

Other Family Members

In addition to parents and children, other family members such as brothers, sisters, and dependent relatives can also immigrate to Australia initially on a temporary visa, with the option to later transition to a permanent visa. These family visas are sponsored by Australian citizens, permanent residents of Australia, and eligible New Zealand citizens.
